L'albizia est un genre de la famille des Mimosacées. Son nom rend hommage au naturaliste florentin Filippo degli Albizi, qui fut le premier à l'introduire en Europe depuis Constantinople en 1740. Il est utilisé comme arbre d'ombrage et brise-vent, mais aussi pour ses vertus fertilisantes.
