In 2021, Budapest Airport set itself the primary goal of achieving net zero emissions 15 years earlier than the previous commitment, by 2035 at the latest, along its zero carbon roadmap. BUD has taken a number of initiatives to reduce and compensate the environmental impacts of its airport operations. The Budapest Airport Forest is an integral part of the airport operator’s responsible and sustainable operations. Budapest Airport strives to maintain its position as a regional industry leader in sustainability and create long-term value. Budapest Airport aims to be a role model for the industry in the area of sustainability. Trees help combat global warming by absorbing carbon dioxide, removing and storing carbon, while releasing oxygen back into the air. By planting more trees, Budapest Airport contributes to global reforestation efforts, restoring lost forests, repairing damaged ecosystems and mitigating climate change.

Budapest Airport Forest

Budapest Airport is one of the most important strategic facilities in Hungary and a stable player of the Hungarian economy. It is also one of the largest and most attractive employers in Hungary. We operate responsibly, safely, sustainably, as a good neighbor. As a large employer, we not only employ the approximately 1200 employees of the BUD group, but we are also responsible for the 50 000 staff of the 250 service providers and partners operating at the airport.&nbsp;Budapest Airport is the best airport in the region, as recognized by Skytrax in 8 consecutive years from 2014 to 2021, based on passenger ratings. Over the past years, BUD has emerged as a leader, becoming the fastest developing airport in the region. Together with its airline partners, it is a key contributor to the development of tourism in Hungary and Budapest. The BUD Cargo City is a focal point for import and export air cargo; Budapest Airport’s aim is to become the cargo gateway for East-Central Europe.
