Curiosity about me

The important moments in your tree's life.

Let's start with introductions

The balsam tree could originally only be found in the regions from southern Mexico to the Amazon-basin. By now, though, it is also cultivated in Sri Lanka, India and West Africa. The reason is the Peru and Tolu balsams that can be obtained from its resin and used for a variety of medicinal purposes. What's more, the tree can grow up to 45 metres high and has a dense crown, and so is often used to provide shade for coffee plants.

Meaning

Healing

The balsam is used to combat rheumatism, bleeding, wounds, inflamed mucous membranes, respiratory diseases, headaches and eczema.

How much CO2 I’ll absorb

My estimated CO2 absorption capacity is based on the first 10 years of my life*

Current absorption

- 0 kg

2025

0 kg

2035

-200 kg

* The tree will continue to absorb CO2 even after the tenth year. Therefore this is a prudent estimate.
