The Forest
With the planting of 480 new trees, Verdura Resort has reached in Spring 2021 7,700 fruit specimens. The goal of achieving sustainable tourism by compensating for the oxygen consumed in the provision of its services is now consolidated thanks to the planting of another 200 orange trees by Treedom. Starting from the 'Foresta Verdura Resort' developed in less than ten years in the sicilian resort, the 'fil vert' of sustainable tourism binds together a bouquet of countries: first of all it touches the other end of Sicily - with a small portion of trees planted in the Catania area - to reach Kenya and Tanzania, and landed finally to Haiti and Guatemala. The portion of 'Foresta Verdura Resort' now scattered around the world will be able to continue to grow over time also thanks to donations from guests and corporate clients who, together with the Sicilian estate of Rocco Forte Hotels, will contribute to tourism in a conscious and sustainable way.
Impact
The trees we plant have big ambitions: to bring benefits not only to the environment, but also to the people who live in it. That's why we work with NGOs and local communities to select the right tree for the right place and the right purpose. That’s why we think about the medium and long term, because we’re not content with simply planting trees: we want to see them grow.
