The Forest
Welcome to the Philip Morris MTB Forest! We are in the valley of the Alcantara river, on the slopes of the fortress of Taormina, in Sicily. The valley is green and luxuriant, rich in natural waters with a lava soil resulting from thousands of years of Etna eruptions. The forest is part of the “Green Work Experience for Autistic People” project with a dual purpose: to promote the improvement of the landscape through the new planting of trees and socialization through the work of young people suffering from autism spectrum disorders. We will plant 365 pomegranate trees of the Mollar de Elche variety, a plant of great effect and high productivity. The fruit externally is light red with yellow shades, internally it is light red, has a medium-large size, a rounded shape and is resistant to manipulation. It ripens around mid-October and has a very sweet and pleasant taste. The seedlings, when transplanted, are about 40 centimeters high, and they touch the ground for the first time.We start from here… A tree a day that testifies our true commitment, our will to change things, one day at a time.
Impact
The trees we plant have big ambitions: to bring benefits not only to the environment, but also to the people who live in it. That's why we work with NGOs and local communities to select the right tree for the right place and the right purpose. That’s why we think about the medium and long term, because we’re not content with simply planting trees: we want to see them grow.
The trees in the forest will absorb:
18.25 t* of CO₂
