The Forest
The myFairtrade forest is planted in Madagascar. We have chosen this island because far too many trees have been cut down and the livelihood of many other plant and animal species has been lost. This is particularly tragic because many of these endangered species are native only to Madagascar. Madagascar is one of the poorest countries in the world, which is why people there often try to boost their meagre income by cutting down trees in the wild. Working with Treedom ensures that new trees are planted and can grow and prosper safely. In the ever-increasing myFairtrade forest, a mixture of valuable coffee trees, colourful Tefrosia shrubs, mighty acacias and fruit-bearing papaya trees grows. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator
Impact
The trees we plant have big ambitions: to bring benefits not only to the environment, but also to the people who live in it. That's why we work with NGOs and local communities to select the right tree for the right place and the right purpose. That’s why we think about the medium and long term, because we’re not content with simply planting trees: we want to see them grow.
