The Forest
Our 2022 forest of 200 trees will be planted in Colombia in the indigenous reserve on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta, in the north of the country. This territory is home to around 30,000 Indios of 4 ethnic groups: the ARHUACO (IKA), WIWA, KOGI and KANKUAMO.The project will be carried out for us, as always, by Treedom.net and will be shared with Ecuador because there is not much availability in Colombia. We wish to dedicate this forest to our very dear friend Victoria Martinez, from Colombia, where she completed her studies as a Graphic Designer. She is an eclectic artist (artistic painting, decorative art and renovation are her preferred activities) with an international reputation. Victoria lives and works in Verona. It is through her art that she is trying to make people and institutions aware of the systematic elimination of the local Indios, physically eliminated, decimated and forcibly removed from their lands owing to de-forestation and the speculation occurring on their territory which is rich with valuable raw materials.A dedication to her of this forest is our way of encouraging Victoria to continue with her initiative for our Mother Earth.“The Amazon forest plays a crucial role in the equilibrium of the earth’s climate and therefore in our lives. But when a forest becomes fragmented, it becomes more vulnerable and weak. The same applies to humanity, when divided we lose force and when united we become stronger. It doesn’t matter who we are or where we come from, let’s leave behind our differences and honour nature so that we can all prosper in the coming years. Let’s unite to protect and nurture our most important resource, Mother Earth.” Victoria Martinez
Impact
The trees we plant have big ambitions: to bring benefits not only to the environment, but also to the people who live in it. That's why we work with NGOs and local communities to select the right tree for the right place and the right purpose. That’s why we think about the medium and long term, because we’re not content with simply planting trees: we want to see them grow.
The trees in the forest will absorb:
33.25 t* of CO₂
