Uganda

The environment is not ours to destroy; it is our duty to protect it for future generations.

Yoweri Museveni (Uganda's President)

Africa's pearl

Uganda is a landlocked east-African country, known for its rich in natural resources such as green landscapes, extraordinary biodiversity and exceptional variety of ecosystems. Its territory stretches across savannahs, tropical forests, mountains and vast wetlands. Uganda shares some of the continent's largest lakes with other African countries, including Lake Victoria, the second largest freshwater basin in the world.

Also known as the 'Pearl of Africa', a nickname given to it by Winston Churchill, Uganda is a place where nature and culture are deeply intertwined. The country's climatic variety, favoured by the presence of plateaus and highlands mitigating its equatorial temperatures, favoured the development of great agricultural diversity. The rural communities, which make up the majority of the population, are deeply attached to their lands and still live according to traditional agricultural practices and pace.
